Lesson Section:: Information Technology MGT300 (Part 5)

Assalamualaikum! hey hey guys!

alhamdulillah we meet again in this section! *excited wannabe

Okay, for this section I'm gonna share about my point of view which is about "Enabling The Organization (Decision Making)" and "Extending The Organization (Supply Chain Management)".



Chapter 9 - Decision Making

The reason for growth of decision making information system

1. People need to analyze large amounts of information

2. People must make decision quickly

3. People must apply sophisticated analysis techniques

4. People must protect the corporate asset of organizational information

One of the sample of organizational levels in decision making

In IT, the decision making is through transaction processing system. Which is the basic business system that serves the operational level in an organization.

That is consists of:

Online transaction processing (OLTP) - 

      1. process the information according to defined business rules

      2. store the information

      3. updating existed information to reflect with the new one.

Online analytical processing (OLAP) - 

      

      the manipulation of information to create business intelligence in support of strategic decision making.

In IT also, it have a support system in order to support the decision making which is called Decision Support System (DSS).

in this system, there are three quantitative models  that used by DSS:

     1. Sensitivity analysis

     2. What-if-analysis

     3. Goal-seeking analysis

There is also have the Executive Information System!

Executive information system (EIS) - a specialised DSS that support senior level executives within the organization.

Their capabilities:

       - Consolidation.

      - Drill-down.

      - Slice-and-dice.

Next, in this chapter also I have found that it is also told about Artificial Intelligence.

So, at first, I was thought that it is about the Artificial Intelligence in the video games that I play which is the Warcraft! 

Unfortunately, it is not exactly!

Artificial Intelligence is a system where it is stimulates human intelligence such as the ability to reason and learn.

There are 4 most common categories of AI:

                                                     1. Expert system.

                                                     2. Neural network.

                                                     3. Genetic algorithm.

                                                     4. Intelligent agent.

Chapter 10 - Supply Chain Management

For this chapter I will just go through okay? ;p

yeah! how cool is that huhh?

The functions or roles of information technology in the supply chain management:

1.Visibility. supply chain visibility is the ability to view all areas up and down the supply chain.

2. Consumer behavior. companies can respond more faster and more effectively to consumer demands through supply chain enhances.

3. Competition. the method that been used by IT in order to bring competition advantage:

     . Supply chain planning (SCP) software - advanced mathematical algorithms.

     . Supply chain execution (SCE) software - automates the different steps and stages of

                                                                  the supply chain.

4. Speed. by IT, supply chain management can gain the 'speed'.

Factors fostering supply chain speed:

      1. Pleasing customers has become something of a corporate obsession.

      2. Information is crucial to managers abilities to reduce inventory and human resource

          requirements to a competitive level.

     3. Information flows are essential to strategic planning for and deployment of 

         resources.
